Las Vegas, 9/13/11 – - Yes, they’re serious. That’s the question writing partners Cory Bytof and Christopher t. Minori are usually asked when they begin talking about their play The Texas Chainsaw Musical! “It started as a joke,” Minori explains. “Cory and I were acting in a play together. In the playbill, I wrote that my next project was going to be The Texas Chainsaw Musical.” Minori had no intention of actually writing the play, but he was constantly asked when it was going to come out, and eventually decided to put pen to paper. Meanwhile, Bytof had moved to California and began writing music. The two hooked up again after 10 years apart, and Minori offered Bytof the chance to pen the musically diverse songs.

The Texas Chainsaw Musical is not based on the 1974 horror film. Rather, it is based on the same events that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Psycho, and Silence of the Lambs are all based on—Wisconsin serial killer, Ed Gein. Minori says, “We wondered what this guy would have been like as a kid. So we took a few things from his life, and then completely made everything else up. It was easier than doing any research.” In the play, Eddy Gee has been tormenting the residents of Plainfield, Texas since he was a child. After killing his mother, Eddy snaps and goes on a rampage, but things get problematic when he falls in love with one of his intended victims. Minori: “Think of it as Love Story… with a chainsaw.”

The Texas Chainsaw Musical! will have its Nevada debut at the Onyx Theatre in October, 2012 (just in time for End of Days, so get your tickets now!) This is going to be one hell of a Halloween.

Bob’s Burgers was last season’s highest-rated new scripted series premiere on any network. Loren Bouchard (Home Movies, Dr. Katz) has created another animated show that at it’s heart is about character. Bob, his wife, Linda and their 3 kids are trying to run a burger business. But that’s just the set-up for some very funny lines, and some inappropriate humor. Hearing his daughter say, “I already picked a corner for the bathroom. That one, where I went.”, or his son, Gene say, “My grandparents are staying with us and they were both alive during prohibition so this is what it sounds like when they have sex in the room next to mine.” will make you put your Tivo’s reverse in over-drive, wondering if you really heard what you thought you did. H. Jon Benjamin, as the voice of Bob really drives this show, as he does on most other shows he’s on. Does this guy have the best voice in television, or what? Check it out HERE
